IVY LINDSEY

Ivy Maria Lindsey was born in St. Louis, Missouri on the 13th of January in 1982.  At the age of six Ivy’s mother remarried and moved the family to Palatine, Illinois.   At an early age Ivy was very expressive and full of energy always trying to stand out, either verbally or physically.     Often being an innovator and leader amongst friends Ivy’s main focus growing up was entertaining others through jokes and dance.  In the summer of 1996 Ivy’s family moved from Chicago, Illinois back to St. Louis, Missouri.   The transition was difficult for Ivy culturally and economically. In high school Ivy became heavily into basketball using it as a way to relate to kids and people in her community. “I played basketball almost all four years of high school I stopped my senior year, when it got in the way with a play I wanted to do. At the end of my senior year I still wanted to act. My high school drama teacher  Mr. Roy gave me the opportunity to direct a play that I co- wrote with other kids in my class. I fell madly in love with the directing position.  Mr. Roy was actually very influential in pushing me in this direction, he always treated me like I was special and not only special but he both praised me and criticized me in a professional manor like a acting coach and serious theatre director. at the same time these kids I went to school with who weren’t into drama but they made little videos and it interested me. After two years at a local community college she received an associate degree in fine arts at a local community college.   While at the Community College Ivy’s interest in Film was sparked deeper through a still photography class that she took. A year later Ivy moved to California to attend film school “ I knew I had a lot to learn, I had Ideas, I had energy, ambition, but I went to school to learn the technique, jargon and most importantly the business” Ivy graduated in 2005 from film school with a cinema degree.
